5 Things to Do with Dad in Sussex this Father’s Day

Now that we've sorted out what you're getting Dad this Father's day (still stuck? Check out our Ultimate Father's Day Gift Guide) we thought we'd give you a helping hand on where to take the big man for the day. With just over a week to go, join us in celebrating everything Dad's do for us in our beautiful local Sussex surroundings...

Take a trip to Kent this Father's day and visit Smallhythe Place, a beautiful late 15th Century National Trust property. This year, they're offering a delicious barbecued steak and beer in the sun. If you're not feeling too woozy afterwards, bring a chair and a picnic and spend the evening watching Shakespeare's best-loved comedy, 'Much Ado About Nothing'. Performed in the open air, in the grounds scenic gardens, with Elizabethan costume, music and dance.

2.) Brighton Whiskey Festival

Get Dad a ticket to the biggest whiskey event on the South Coast. Returning to Brighton's Corn Exchange once again, this infamous festival will be sure to put a smile on Dad's face. Grab some of his friends, a few drams and take him for a right good knees up.

3.) Father’s Day Brunch & Outdoor Vineyard Tour

Enjoy brunch in the panoramic Gallery Restaurant at Denbies wine estate in Dorking this Father's day. Follow this with the vineyard tour and a glass of sparkling wine and you'll really have Dad smiling. Climb to the highest point of the vineyard and absorb the breath-taking views across the estate. Finish off the day with a barbecue and some jazz on the lawn, complete with local Surrey Hills micro-Brewery award winning ales.

4.) Spring Barn Farm

Have some family fun in Lewes this Father's day at the Spring Barn Farm. There's an indoor play area for the kids, farm animals and small animals to hold up close, go karts, tractor rides and Dad's get free entry on Father's day!

5.) The Coal Shed Brighton

If you fancy staying close to home, why not take Dad for a walk along the seafront, a meander through the Laines and a well earned meal at the Coal Shed on the way home. We're not just talking any old meal, we're talking the big papa of Father's day feasts. With sustainable and ethically sourced meat including a 35 day dry-aged roast sirloin of beef or a whole roast chicken with stuffing and fresh fish caught every morning from Brighton and Newhaven, we're sure Dad will be in a Father's day food frenzy. There's also great vegetarian dishes and children's meals.
