Best Vegetarian and Vegan Eats in Brighton

You may have guessed that we kind of care a lot about the environment here at Maria Allen, and that goes for the food we eat and it's impact on the planet too. We love our tasty food so, for when you're out exploring Brighton this Summer, we thought we'd put together a selection of our favourite vegetarian and vegan restaurants and cafes for you try out...

1.) Silo
With its ethical ethos and zero-waste policy (and friendly service) Silo is fast becoming our favourite place to eat in Brighton. With a clear respect for the environment at the core of it's ethos, we can't get enough of it!

Situated in the Laines, Terre a Terre is Brighton's iconic vegetarian/ vegan restaurant where vegetarianism 'is more about indulgence than abstinence' - an idea we can fully get behind. All the food is ethical and sustainably sourced, with recycling and food waste being a key focus within the restaurant.

3.) Iydea
Iydea is the perfect place to pop in to for breakfast, lunch or dinner and you'll never be disappointed. With an amazing choice of good homemade veggie grub always on the menu and choices in gluten free and vegan options available, you'll love this place whether you're vegetarian or not!

4.) Foodilic
The perfect place to pop in for a bite to eat or to take away, this place makes the freshest food in Brighton. All homemade, super tasty, mostly vegetarian or vegan, and all you can eat for around £6. With a huge selection of bright fresh salads, lentils, potatoes and meats, you just can't go wrong.

If you want an amazing vibe, big spicy portions and a cracking meal, head down to the Chilli Pickle one evening. This Indian restaurant has an amazing vegetarian/ gluten free menu and the most colourful decor, grab some friends and go have some fun!

Offering one of the best selections of vegetarian and vegan dishes in the North Laines, everything on this menu is cooked fresh and made to order from local produce. This is the best place to go for breakfast with large portions, an inexpensive menu and most importantly, the taste is incredible.

Rootcandi is a concept created by the founder of Brighton's much-loved vegetarian eatery, Iydea. With an incredible selection of plant-based tapas up for grabs, this 100% plant based menu makes for a unique and highly enjoyable dining experience!

The mezze platter here is unreal, with a huge plate of fresh salads, falafels, dips and other goodies served with pitta or rice and tapioca bread, it's out favourite place to pop in for lunch after shopping in the Laines.

This is Brighton’s award-winning vegetarian restaurant in the historic South Lanes. Their ethos is all about tasty, affordable and honest cooking using the freshest produce. It's totally homemade and they support local suppliers where possible. Did we mention the food is out of this world too? Definitely a must try if you're in Brighton.

Last but by absolutely no means least, The Earth and Stars has been dubbed as the most environmentally friendly pub in Brighton, being powered by a solar panel in the roof and serving organic lager, cider, spirits and wine along with the most delicious vegan and vegetarian food you could possibly lay your hands on, this relaxed and friendly pub is where we'll be spending our days this summer.
